Tendering begins for highway to boost tourism between Santiago and Puerto Plata

Santo Domingo.- The Association of Merchants and Industrialists of Santiago (ACIS) has commended the Dominican Government’s initiative to commence the bidding process for constructing the Amber Highway. This significant infrastructure project is designed to link Santiago with Puerto Plata, significantly cutting travel time to just 20 to 25 minutes.

Sandy Filpo, president of ACIS, emphasized that the new highway will greatly improve connectivity between Santiago and Puerto Plata, effectively integrating the two provinces into a single tourist destination.

“This has been a long-awaited aspiration of the commercial and business communities in both Santiago and Puerto Plata. The highway will not only attract more visitors but also enhance business opportunities,” Filpo remarked.

He further pointed out that once the Amber Highway is operational, it will facilitate the flow of tourists from the North Coast to Santiago, providing a better experience for both travelers and businesses, as reported by El Nacional.
