The “Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN), one of the country’s most important retail chains, recently launched the photo contest “Capture With Your Heart the Best of Puerto Plata,” where local and international photographers will be able to photograph the best this north coast city has to offer.

Participants may submit original and unpublished photographs that have not appeared in media outlets, including online publications.

Photographs submitted should be in the following categories: history, biodiversity, tourist attractions, architecture, people (anthropology) and culture (tradition, folklore, customs, religion, cuisine and crafts).

For further information, including contest rules, please visit: www.orgullodemitierra.com.do/retratadecorazon. Participants can include up to two photographs in any of the categories listed. Contest closes on Friday, August 30, 2013.  Participants will be registered through their email account.

The “Centro Leon,” in Santiago, one of the country’s most important cultural institutions, is a co-organizer of the event.

This latest contest is the fourth annual cultural program organized by the “Centro Cuesta Nacional.”

The goal is to highlight the values and richness of the country’s different regions. Other regions that have been included in this program are Samaná (north coast), Barahona and Pedernales (southwest region).

La Vega, Constanza and Jarabacoa (in the country’s heartland).
