Punta Cana, on the country’s easternmost region, has become one of the Caribbean’s most important tourism destinations, according to readers of the popular travel website Tripadvisor. In addition, four resorts in the region were included in the Travellers Choice 2013. Similarly, resorts in Cabarete and Samaná Bay, both on the country’s scenic north coast, were also included. Punta Cana is also considered to be one of the world’s top golf destinations and has made its way into the exclusive list of “The 25 Most Popular Destinations” in the Caribbean.
Paradise Island Beach is truly a picture-perfect beach. The beach is located in a sand-bar consisting of the finest white sand. It is situated off-shore, not far from the coastline. Visitors to Paradise Island feel as if they were on a paradisiacal deserted island, lined with perfect white sand and bathed by crystalline blue-green waters.
The Tortuga Bay Hotel at Puntacana Resort & Club, the Iberostar Grand Bávaro Hotel and the NH Punta Cana were included in the list of the “Top 25 Hotels” in the Caribbean. Club Med Punta Cana was included in the list of “Top 10 Hotels For Families” in the region. All these facilities are located in the Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana tourism region, on the country’s easternmost section.
Velero Beach Resort (in the north coast town of Cabarete) and Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado Don Pablo Collection (in Samaná Bay, on the country’s northeast region) were also included among the “Top 25 Hotels” of the Caribbean.
Bávaro Beach, in the same region, and Paradise Island, on the north coast, are now included among “The 25 Best Beaches” in the Caribbean.

Paradise Island
Not as well-known as Playa Bavaro, Paradise Island beach is truly a magnificent destination. The beach is actually a sandbar, consisting of very fine and soft white sand situated a very short distance from the nearby coastline. It is easily reached by small boats that leave from Punta Rucia, a small fishing community which also boasts a beautiful beach. This destination is close to the north coast city of Puerto Plata and Santiago, the country’s second-largest city.
