The 17th annual “Dominican Republic Jazz Festival 2013″ will be held October 31 in Puerto Plata, on November 1 in Sosua, and November 2-3 in Cabarete, the windsailing capital of the Dominican Republic. Among the top performers that will bring their music to the Festival will be Abraham Laboriel, Alex Acuna, Rufus Reid and Bernie Williams. Dominican performers will include top singer Maridalia Hernandez and merengue superstar Johnny Ventura. Both will share the stage with four of the country’s top saxophonists.
The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is the most important cultural international event in the Dominican Republic. Thousands of international tourists annually attend the event.
The festival is an important platform for the diffusion of Latin Jazz. Past participants include internationally famous musicians, such as Grammy-award winners Chuck Mangione, David Sanchez, Ray Baretto, Nestor Torres, Chucho Valdes and Arturo Sandoval.
