Puerto Plata, the north coast’s most important city, recently reopened its newly refurbished international airport at a cost of US$42 million.

In total, 13,000 square meters of the original terminal were remodeled, with an additional five thousand square meters added to the old terminal.

The airport now offers newly installed escalators, elevators, and waiting and receiving areas.

The airport is managed by AERODOM, and serves the entire north coast of the Dominican Republic.

Airline counters, arrival and departure areas, 34 new immigration stalls, and new flight information screens, have been added to the newly refurbished terminal.

The terminal has been decorated with impressive images of Puerto Plata province.

AERODOM

The company manages the country’s six airports (two in Santo Domingo, two in the north coast province of Samana, one in the southwest province of Barahona and in Puerto Plata).  Together, all airport facilities handle some 300 flights a week and 4.2 million passengers annually.
