At least five people died and another 50 were injured yesterday in a traffic accident in the El Puerto de Jarabacoa sector.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 6:03 in the afternoon, when a bus slipped when the brakes failed. The victims went to Maimon, Monseñor Nouel province, after being in a soccer league.
The dead and some of the injured were taken to the Luis Morillo King hospital in La Vega. In addition, other injured people were treated at the Juan Bosch health center.
On the spot were agents from the Directorate General for Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) and other authorities. Also, ten curious people.
