The Dominican Republic currently occupies first place in the construction of hotel rooms in the region, according to a report released by the newspaper Caribbean Journal.
According to the report there are currently 2,475 rooms under construction in the Dominican Republic, followed by the Bahamas, which has 2,271 rooms under construction.
Puerto Rico comes in third with 709 rooms, Aruba, with 320 rooms, and Jamaica, with 238 rooms.
The report covered the period from January to June 2013.
